Alaska

The dark silhouette of the Aurelia, a steel Schooner, sets off against the subtle hues of the bay concealed in a dense fog. Due to the shallow water, the black daggerboard has been pulled up, revealing the largest part of it. This gives the boat an appearance that reminds me of an old steamer.Like traveling back in time the Aurelia heads for the ‘Last Frontier’ as Alaska was named by the fortune hunters of the end of the nineteenth century.

There, the Gold Seekers came in contact with the original population who provided them with food, supplies and eerie tales about Tizheruk; snake-like sea creatures with a length of a good four meters. According to legend, these living things roam these waters.  Pure intimidation of course, but this area with its dazzling serenity, foggy and filled with mystery, has the ability to fire one’s imagination.
